I have been happily married to my wife Darlene for forty-eight years. We have one son and five grandchildren. I served in the United States Air Force from 1968 -1972. I became an ordained minister in 1975. I have been in Administration since 1976. I have spent the past forty-four years as an educator. I have taught classes in the following subjects: Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Biology, Physical Education, General Math, Consumer Math, Algebra I, Drama, Bible, and World Views (as an adjunct professor of Lord Fairfax Community College).

I married my lifetime ministry partner Kay on March 13, 1970. We became Christians February 15, 1976. We have three children: Andy, Philip and Katie along with six grand kids, Mikayla, Caleb, Jaiden, Ethan, Elijah, and Lilliana (Lilli). We have been in ministry since our salvation. God directed us here at Legacy Christian Academy in 2014. We also serve at “What’s New Worship” church where our son Andy is Pastor.

I moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1990, the year my husband Mike & I were married. We are both originally from Falls Church, Virginia. I made a decision for Christ in 1994. We have a son, Garrett and a daughter, Jessica. Prior to having children I spent six years working in Property Management for a large corporation where I developed many skills which included sales, marketing, customer service, project management, and maintaining a substantial budget. Once I had children I worked for myself with an educational book company for more than five years and developed a love for teachers & education. I have worked as a school Admissions Director for more than six years.

Kim Nicewarner, Office Manager / Upper School Secretary (6th – 12th)

I'm married to Tim Nicewarner and we have a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Bethany. I was saved at the age of sixteen. I attended Liberty University and worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for twenty years in computer security. We owned a Moon Bounce business for fifteen years and used it as a ministry to share the Lord with families. I was also an Awana and Word of Life Leader for ten years. I have worked as a school secretary/office manager for fifteen years. I am currently the Upper School Secretary/Office Manager for LCA.

My life verse is Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ Jesus that strengthens me.

Kay Combs, School Receptionist / Elementary School Secretary (K3 – 5th)

I married my life time ministry partner Ron on March 13, 1970. We became Christians February 15, 1976. Rachel Soffel, K5 Kindergarten Teacher

I live in Winchester with my husband, Jesse and my cat, Kevin. I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada to my American-missionary Father and Canadian mother. I am a proud dual citizen.

I cannot remember a time before I wanted to be a teacher. I moved to Florida when I was 19 to attend Pensacola Christian College and get my degree in Elementary Education. When I finished with college, I spent two years teaching at a large Christian school in South Florida until I moved to Virginia to get married. I have since fallen in love with Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. I have been teaching for four years as well as tutoring elementary students. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to teach at Legacy Christian Academy.

Hope Clegg, 1st Grade Teacher / Summer Adventures Director

I am a native of Front Royal, Virginia. At an early age I accepted Christ as my Savior. My husband of thirty-six years is Jack Clegg. We have three grown children, and seven grandchildren. I have been a Christian Educator for over thirty years. Currently I am the first grade teacher at Legacy Christian Academy. This is my thirteenth year of directing a Children’s Camp. I enjoy teaching ESL students during the summer. My life has been so blessed by the Lord.

My life verses: Philippians 4:13, I can do All things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Matthew 6:33, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I'm married to Daryl Braun-Duin and have 6 children and 5 grandchildren. I was privileged to home-school my children for 18 years. Then I worked as a preschool teacher, preschool director, librarian, 3rd grade teacher, 2nd grade and home-school coordinator for a few years. I am know the Librarian and I'm privileged to be a part of Legacy Christian Academy.

Mike Miller, Upper School History / Typing & Latin

I am a resident of Bunker Hill, WV, along with my wife of thirty years, Debbie. We have two sons, Bradlee and Ryan as well as a beautiful daughter-in-law, Ryan's wife Marissa and one grandchild. I was saved at the age of eighteen. I was on active duty with the West Virginia Air National Guard for 21 years before retiring in 2000. I returned to Shepherd University and graduated in 2004. I taught in Berkeley County, WV, for 10 years at Mill Creek Intermediate and Bunker Hill Elementary.  I also worked as a Math Recovery Teacher for 2 years. I feel truly blessed to be involved with our exceptional students and staff. 

My life verse is Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

I have been married to Michael Wilmer for thirteen years. Together we have two children named Alyssa and Braden. I accepted Christ as my personal Savior at the age of five, but rededicated myself to God at the age of ten, when I was in the fifth grade. I have had the privilege of being a part of Christian education, teaching fifth graders for the past eleven years. I love teaching and feel very blessed to be a part of Legacy Christian Academy.

One of my favorite verses is Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”

I graduated from Bryan College in Dayton, TN. I got married and moved to Richmond, VA, where I taught 2nd grade in Henrico County for five years. I took several years off to raise my three children, during that time I home schooled, subbed, and tutored. I am excited to be on staff at Legacy Christian as the 4th grade teacher.

My life verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Robyn Bonilla, 2nd Grade Teacher

I grew up in Winchester, Virginia but have lived in Strasburg, Virginia for the last 9 years. I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Liberty University in 2012. I worked in a Head Start program in Page and Shenandoah counties and most recently at Pollywog Place in Strasburg. 

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a small child and I am excited to be carrying out that dream at Legacy. I did not grow up as an active church member and my faith journey began later in life. After I faced a life threatening illness while pregnant and my premature baby spent 30 days in the NICU, I realized the power of prayer. My husband, Jeovanni and I are the proud parents of Lucas, a healthy two year old. 

It is my goal to share my love of teaching with my students and help them reach their full potential. 

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6 

Michelle Camper, Choir / Music Teacher

I have been married to Gerald Camper for twenty-three years. We have two sons, Nathan and Ethan. I have twenty five years of experience as a private piano instructor, as well as fifteen years of experience in private education as a general music instructor/choral director. It is a privilege to lead the music department at Legacy Christian Academy, and I look forward to many exciting years in the future! 

My life verse is Proverbs 31:30, "Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised."

I have been married to Neal Strosnider for the past thirty years. We have one daughter and one granddaughter. I was the President of the Parent’s Organization at my daughter’s Christian school for six years. I have been working in Christian education and my church for the past fifteen year as the Food Service Manager. At Legacy Christian Academy I am teaching Home Economics to middle school and high school students, as well as Art for first grade through twelfth grade students. I am blessed to be a part of the work that the Lord is doing at LCA.

My life verse is Romans 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Lisa Westbrook, Middle School Teacher (Bible / Spelling / History)

I live in Winchester with my husband John, son Nick, and our two dogs. I graduated in 1999 from James Madison University with a Master's Degree in Education. Prior to coming to Legacy Christian Academy, I worked in Jefferson County Public Schools (West Virginia) in the elementary school setting. I primarily taught students who were hearing impaired and/or speech impaired. I also helped students who had reading delays in the after-school tutoring program. I feel truly blessed to be teaching middle school students at LCA this year, and, I am really enjoying the Christian school setting.

My life verse is Colossians 3:12, Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Donna Nieman, Vice Principal - Upper School Teacher (Geometry / Alg. 1 & Alg. 2)

I have been married to James Nieman for twenty-eight years, I am a mother of two daughters, Natalie and Jasmine. Most of my teaching experience has been in the field of upper school math, and I have been teaching for twenty-three years. I have also been a volleyball coach for twenty-nine years, coaching at the collegiate, high school, and juniors levels. I enjoy working with teens, and watching the transformation that takes place from year-to-year as they become young adults.

I grew up in Midlothian, Virginia and also lived in Charlottesville for a few years. I majored in English at Liberty University and also received my Virginia Teaching License. My husband and I have been married since June of 2014, and we now have a sweet Aussie named Moose.  

English has always been a passion of mine, and I love sharing that passion with my students. Each student is precious to me, and I love that I can share Christ with them every day and have the Lord be the center of my curriculum.

My life verse is Isaiah 41:10, "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

I am married to James Kirby. I have two stepchildren and one grandson. I have taught high school science and math classes for twenty-three years. Twenty of those years have been in Christian education. I feel so blessed to be a part of the Legacy Christian Academy family.

 My husband of 17 years had a position change in his work which brought us from Roanoke. As I was looking for a Christian school for my boys to attend (Garrett III and Wyatt), God brought me to LCA. I taught 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades at Parkway Christian Academy and K4 was foreign to me. Now it is my home away from home. I have a BA from VT and a Masters from Regent University in Special Education. I made Jesus my Savior while learning the Romans Road to Salvation and have been a work in progress ever since.  Philippians 1:6

I am married to Jerry Hogbin and we have two children. Daughter, Madison Son, Peyton.  I have worked as a preschool teacher, teachers assistant and also tutored different age levels for many years. I love working with children and serving the Lord in this way. I know this is His calling for my life. We host a bible study/small group for teens in our home on Friday evenings. This is how we love to stay involved with our growing children and other teens and focus on the Lord. I feel so blessed to be a part of Legacy Christian Academy where I know God has led me to teach 3year olds. 

Proverbs 3:3-6: Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name with God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him,  and he will make your paths straight. 

Matthew 25:35-40: For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I was in prison and you came to visit me.  The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.
